A Journey to the Centre
Building a Conscious Core for Yoga
The idea of “Core Training” has become such a buzzword in the health and fitness industry that it has begun to lose any meaning at all.
“A strong core” sounds like a great idea in principle, but if that means shortening and straining already tense muscles performing crunches in a search of a sixpack it’s beginning a path to imbalances and lower back pain.
The purpose of this workshop is to build awareness of our core, to become conscious of how having a stable and able centre will enhance your yoga practice, help prevent injury and translate into real world benefits.
The workshop will include:
- An understanding of the core from different traditions
- Becoming conscious of the core through our breath
- Isometric practice for stability and strength
- The conscious core in our everyday yoga practice
The workshop is taking place at The Heart Yoga Studio, in Wolverton Milton Keynes.
Bookings can be made online at their website.
(Please note places are limited, so book early to guarantee yours!)
About the Teacher
David Ellard is a Yoga Teacher, Personal Trainer, Aikido Instructor and practitioner of Tai Chi, Chi Gong and other movement and meditation practices.
David became interested by how all of these different practices gave a pre-eminence to the centre or core of the body, but with different focus and emphasis.
In his journey to build a conscious core David has looked to combine these different wisdom systems and present practical teaching and guidance for today’s yoga practitioner.
